Adding an item to the Sales Mode window

The below guide will highlight how to edit your menu and add and remove items. There are 2 steps to add your items:

Adding an items detail into a PLU

Adding the PLU to the keyboard layout

Essential settings are highlighted in RED as the bare minimum when adding a new item to the till along with adding the item to keyboard layout.

Adding item details to a PLU

-Starting from the Home Screen, go to Programming > enter: 2552 > All Prog > PLU > PLU

Inside here will be all your PLU’s (Product Look Up). Every PLU X (X being a number) can be clicked on and edited.

The PLU edit window options:

Name: Changes the PLU name descriptor to whatever is input e.g. PLU 23 > Chips.

Update Keyboard Text: Updates the sales view text to whatever has been input into the name descriptor box.

Random Code: Can be used as a reference code for the PLU item, used to create barcodes for stock control using barcode scanners.

1st @Price: The primary price field for changing the standard price of items.

2nd, 3rd, 4th @Price: Price fields used for price level shifts. Price level shifts are used to shift the standard price to a different level (price). The name of the price shifts and prices themselves can be changed to suit the business in fields further down.

Department Links: This is the field relating the item to the department listed. For example, Coca-Cola would be in a wet section as it is a drink, burger would be in a dry section whilst cigarettes would be in a sundries section. This is useful for statistics in reports.

PLU Group Link: This links the item to the sales group it’s linked to, for example, Cheeseburger would have a group called Burgers. This is also useful for statistics in reports.

Link 6 Items Enforced Zero Price: When set any items registered through a List PLU allocated in list link 6 are enforced to zero price.

Windows Stay Until ESC?: Enables the list box to stay on the screen until the escape button is used, useful for applying multiple options to a single item.

Set Menu: Links a set Menu to this PLU, Set Menu can be configured in ICR through the Set Menu Section.

Maintain Stock?: Used to regulate stock of items, can be used to limit the sale of special items and using reports to generate stock take data.

Inhibit Sales When Below Minimum Stock?: Inhibits stock when the PLU stock number has reached the minimum.

Display Stock Quantity on One-Shot PLU?: Enables viewing the stock count below the PLU name in Sales Mode.

Current Stock Quantity: Current stock number of the PLU.

PLU Is Condiment PLU?: The PLU will be sold as a condiment to the item before it.

Do Not Print On Receipts Or Bills?: Stops the PLU from being printed on receipts or bills, usually used for cooking instructions. PLU’s with prices always print.

PLU Is Weight PLU?: The PLU is sold by the kilo with weight entry via a Weight Key or a scale connection.

Allow Manual Weight Entry?: Allows the weight to be manually keyed in using a weight key on the keyboard.

Prompt With Picture?: Displays the picture that is attached to the PLU with a Yes/No dialogue. Useful for displaying photographic instructions.

Single Item Sale?: When set, the PLU will automatically finalise the sale after registering. Only applies when it is the first PLU registered in the sale. This must be configured manually in System Configuration.

Set Menu Premium Item? (Uses 3rd @): When this item is registered as part of a Set Menu then the 3rd @ price of this product is added to the sale. For adding on additional multi deal charges.

Quantity Of 3rd@ Price: The quantity of the PLU sold at the 3rd @ price. When a 3rd @ price shift button is pressed, only products with a qty set here will appear on the keyboard.

Quantity Of 4th@ Price: The quantity of the PLU sold at the 4th @ price. When a 4th @ price shift button is pressed, only products with a quantity set here will appear on the keyboard.

Alt Text For Modifier: When set, this will override the X modifier description, X being whatever the alt text is under.

Print In Red On KP: When set, the product will appear in red when printed on a kitchen printer.

Print to KP1: KP12 - This selects which kitchen printers the product will appear on, for example, send drinks to KP1 and food to KP2.

Selective Itemizer 1 To 5: This is used for selective discounts, with customer loyalty and discount buttons and for service charges. Effectively ensuring if a transaction has discounts applied you can exclude items from discounts such as specialties and high-cost items. For example, setting selective item 1 on a product and configuring the discount key to only discount selective item 1 products will mean that this product will be discounted, whereas others without this flag set will not.

Commission 1 To 4: Determines whether the clerk receives commission on this product based on the commission rates stored against the clerk.

Prompt For Customer Verification 1 & 2?: Used for age verification, nut allergies etc. These can be customised upon request.

Enable SEL Printing: Setting this to yes will enable shelf edge labels to be printed for this PLU.

Cost Price: The unit cost price of the PLU can be recorded here.

Pending SEL: This will automatically change to yes when any fields that are set to print on the SEL are changed, this can also be toggled to yes manually. When pending is set to yes, a label will be produced when the SEL Pending report is run (will not be available unless SEL requested as a feature to the myAPPetite Support Team).

Unit: This is the “cost per” that will appear on the SEL, for example, £1.00 per Ltr. Additional units can be added by editing the Language.def file in the skin folder, if this is done, please save only the alterations you have made in a customlanguage.def file (will not be available unless SEL requested as a feature to the myAPPetite Support Team).

Quantity Per Unit: Enter the conversion factor for the unit being used. This tells the tills software the relationship between the quantity of each item that is sold compared to the unit quantity that is shown on the shelf edge label. For example, a can of cola sold in quantities of 250ml but shown on the SEL with a unit of 1 litre would have 0.25 in here (will not be available unless SEL requested as a feature to the myAPPetite Support Team).

Allergens: Yes/No flags for allergens to be set against the PLU.

Nutrition: Nutritional information for the PLU can be configured here.
